PTA volunteer sign-up
A PTA does not fail for lack of goodwill. It fails when the jobs are a blurry paragraph in a newsletter. Name the job, the time, and how many people, and the list fills.
Why the group text fails
“We need volunteers” is not a sign-up. People can’t tell whether you need a treasurer or someone to cut watermelon for field day.
What the sheet should do
- One sheet can hold the month’s concrete jobs, each with a cap.
- The School / league plan lets the president and the committee chairs all create sheets.
- Finished events get closed, which matters on the free plan’s three-sheet limit.
Tips from running this kind of sheet
- Prefer many specific sheets over one mega-sheet: book fair, dance, staff lunch. People filter with their eyes, and long pages lose them.
- Put the time commitment in the slot title, not only in a PDF attachment.
- Ask for adult emails. The membership roster is not a place for student addresses.
- Export after the event if your insurance or school requires a volunteer log.

Questions
Can committee chairs have their own logins?
Yes. The School / league plan ($15/month) invites extra organisers. They share the group’s sheets.
Does the free plan show ads?
No. Free sheets have a small SlotSheet footer instead. Paid plans remove it.
