A SignUpGenius alternative with no ads on any plan

SignUpGenius is a mature, full-featured tool that many schools rely on. If you mainly need clean sign-up sheets and reminders without ads in front of your parents and volunteers, SlotSheet is a simpler, cheaper fit.

Free for 3 open sheets. No ads, and no account needed for the people signing up.

SignUpGenius’s free Basic plan is genuinely capable: unlimited sign-ups, reminders, and payment collection. Free sign-ups show ads to participants, which SignUpGenius explains is how it pays for the free tier. Its paid plans remove ads from a set number of sign-ups, starting at one on Silver.

SlotSheet takes the opposite trade-off. There are no ads on any plan, including free, and the feature set is deliberately smaller: slots, capacities, waitlists, email reminders, cancel links, CSV export, and repeating schedules.

How it works

  1. 1

    Recreate your sheet

Copy your slots (title, date, time, how many needed) into a new SlotSheet. Starter sheets cover snacks, potlucks, conferences, and volunteer shifts.

  2. 2

    Share the new link

Participants don’t need an account on either service. They’ll just see a page with no ads.

  3. 3

    Run both for a while

Keep existing SignUpGenius sign-ups until their events pass. Start new ones on SlotSheet.

When SignUpGenius is the better choice

Be honest about fit. SignUpGenius is likely the better tool if you need:

  • Collecting payments, dues, or donations on the sign-up (SignUpGenius charges a per-transaction fee).
  • Text-message invites and reminders.
  • Custom questions, themes, branding, and portal pages.
  • Many admins and large organisation features such as SSO or volunteer-hours reports on higher tiers.

When SlotSheet is the better choice

SlotSheet is built for the organiser who runs the same few sheets every week or season:

  • No ads for participants on any plan, including free.
  • A waitlist on every plan, including free.
  • Repeating weekly schedules from $5/month or $39/year, with no per-sheet ad-free limit.
  • A short, plain page that parents and volunteers finish in under a minute.

Questions

Is SlotSheet really ad-free on the free plan?

Yes. No plan shows ads. Free sheets show a small “Made with SlotSheet” line, which paid plans remove.

Is SignUpGenius free?

Yes, SignUpGenius has a free Basic plan. Free sign-ups show ads to participants, and paid plans remove ads from a set number of sign-ups.

Can I import my SignUpGenius sign-ups?

There’s no automatic import. Most sheets take a few minutes to recreate, and starter sheets cover the common ones.

Can SlotSheet collect money?

No. If you need payments on the sign-up, SignUpGenius or your school’s payment system is a better fit.

What does SlotSheet cost for a whole PTA or league?
