Classroom volunteer sign-up for teachers and room parents
Reading helpers, mystery readers, copy-room duty, party setup. Put the whole term’s classroom jobs on one sheet, share it in the class newsletter, and see at a glance which weeks still need someone.
Free for 3 open sheets. No ads, and no account needed for the people signing up.
Teachers want help that shows up on the right day. Parents want to help but often can’t tell what’s needed or when. A classroom volunteer sheet bridges that with a short list of real jobs and clear times.
Because many parents work during the school day, a good classroom sheet mixes in-room jobs with take-home ones like cutting laminated cards or prepping a craft kit. Those fill quickly, and they count.
How it works
- 1
List the recurring jobs
Mystery reader on Fridays, reading centre Tuesdays, library tidy once a month. Add a date and time to the in-room ones so reminders go out.
- 2
Add take-home tasks
Undated slots like “prep 24 craft kits” let working parents help. Use the note field for what they need to pick up.
- 3
Share in the newsletter
One link for the whole class. Parents sign up with a name and email, with no account and no app.
- 4
Check before the day
See who’s coming, export a list for the front office sign-in, and let the waitlist fill any cancellations.

School rules worth putting on the sheet
Many schools require background checks, visitor badges, or a sibling-free classroom. Put those rules in the sheet description so parents see them before they commit, not after they arrive.
Use a parent or guardian’s name and email. SlotSheet isn’t built for student accounts, and the public sheet shows the names people enter, so first name and last initial is a sensible default for school sheets.
Running sheets for a whole grade or PTA
One teacher or room parent can run a few sheets on the free plan. If a PTA or grade team wants several organisers sharing sheets, the School / league plan at $15 a month covers the group with one subscription.
Make yours in a couple of minutes
The starter sheet opens with example slots filled in. Change the dates and names, then share the link.
Questions
Do parents need an account to volunteer?
No. They add a name and email. The confirmation email has a private link to cancel or switch to a different week.
Can I limit each parent to one slot?
Yes. Turn on “one sign-up per email” so the job spreads across more families.
Will parents get a reminder?
Yes, for slots with a date and time: about 36 hours before by default. Take-home tasks without a date don’t get one.
Is it safe to share the link publicly?
Share it with your class, not on social media. The public sheet shows the names people enter, so suggest first name and last initial. Never add children’s names or emails.
Can several teachers share one account?
The School / league plan lets the owner invite other organisers, so each teacher runs their own sheets under the school’s subscription.
