Room parent helper schedule
Room parents burn out when every job is a fresh negotiation. A standing sheet for the month lets other families take a piece without a planning meeting.
Why the group text fails
The group chat is where plans go to be liked and then forgotten. The room parent still buys the plates.
What the sheet should do
- Jobs are small enough to finish: “order the teacher lunch,” not “own the holiday.”
- You duplicate the sheet next month and change the jobs.
- People who can’t do drop-off can still take an at-home job.
Tips from running this kind of sheet
- Keep the teacher’s wish list in the description so helpers don’t buy a gift the teacher asked you not to.
- Separate money collection from this sheet. Say how the treasurer wants to be paid, and don’t ask SlotSheet to hold funds.
- Use one-per-email if the same three names are taking everything.
- Close the month when it’s over so your free-plan slot opens up.

Questions
Is this only for the official room parent?
The room parent usually organises it. Any family with the link can take a job.
Can I start from a template?
Yes. This page’s button opens a sheet with these jobs already listed. Change them before you share the link.
