Youth sports volunteer sign-up
Volunteer coaches already do too much. The missing piece is usually a public list of the other jobs: who lines the field, who keeps the book, who brings the med kit.
Why the group text fails
Those jobs get assigned in the parking lot to whoever makes eye contact. A sheet lets people choose before the season, when they still know their work calendar.
What the sheet should do
- Roles have honest capacities. You need one scorekeeper, not “as many as want to help.”
- A family can take snacks one week and the gate another, because one-per-email stays off.
- The coach sees emails. The rest of the team sees names.
Tips from running this kind of sheet
- Describe the job in one line: “Arrive 25 minutes early, put out cones, stay until they are collected.”
- Don’t hide a background-check requirement. Say it before someone drives across town.
- Split home and away if away games don’t need field setup.
- Duplicate the sheet for the next sport season and clear the dates.

Questions
Is this a lineup tool?
No. SlotSheet schedules people for jobs and snacks. It doesn’t set playing time.
Can the club have several coaches as organisers?
Yes, on the School / league plan at $15 a month.
